Mid-Atlantic Women’s Care, a comprehensive provider of healthcare to the women of Hampton Roads and surrounding areas, has affiliated with Unified Women’s Healthcare. As one of the largest independent OB/GYN practices in the country, Mid-Atlantic Women’s Care has more than 115 providers across 30 Care Centers and six Imaging Centers in Virginia and North Carolina. Provident Healthcare Partners (Provident) served as exclusive financial advisor to Mid-Atlantic Women’s Care. The terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
“We recently utilized the expertise provided by Provident in successfully closing our negotiations with Unified Women’s Health Care. We had started the process relying solely on our legal and accounting resources and realized that we needed the assistance of a specialized team in order to more efficiently and accurately evaluate the potential benefits of the transaction. Within a remarkably brief period of time, the Provident team was able to not only understand our situation and needs but they were also able to help us appreciate the true benefits of this deal with respect to current market conditions related to medical practices. I can personally attest that every member of the Provident team was readily available by email or phone and considering all the limitations that COVID has forced upon us I feel that our group could not have fully understood or appreciated the most important aspects to be considered when evaluating the deal at hand. The only regret I have is not contacting Provident earlier in the process,” noted Dr. Thomas Basco, Medical Director for Mid-Atlantic Women’s Care.
“Mid-Atlantic Women’s Care is a leader in women’s health services in the Hampton Roads area, attracting a loyal patient base through its commitment to clinical quality. By affiliating with Unified Women’s Healthcare, MAWC is poised to expand upon its success with additional infrastructure and capital resources,” commented AJ Shekar, Senior Vice President at Provident.
