Q1 2025 Home Care, Hospice & DME Update

The home care & hospice spaces continue to attract significant interest from the private equity universe even though the ongoing shift from hospital and clinic-based settings into the home continues. Provident anticipates a strong year for home care M&A activity, highlighting consistent appetite for deals despite broader macroeconomic challenges.

On the heels of a highly active finish to 2024 that included a flurry of announced deals spanning both private equity sponsors and strategic acquirers, DME M&A volume slowed considerably in Q1 2025. This reset is expected to be short-lived as several groups are actively exploring new partnership opportunities and macro growth tailwinds in the sector remain strong.

In particular, product categories such as respiratory equipment and diabetic supplies continue to attract considerable interest from the investor community.

Overall market sentiment remains bullish as the reimbursement outlook continues to be positive, labor challenges have largely subsided, and the continued trend of AI adoption across the industry drives innovation and improved operational efficiency. Provident anticipates these trends will meaningfully bolster DME deal volume in Q2 / Q3.
